In the example the displacements generating the interferometric fringes have been obtained for the recent earthquake in L'Aquila.
The patterns of deformation have been derived by Differential SAR Interferometry relative to the earthquake whose main shock occurred on April 6th, 2009 around L'Aquila (Italy). The deformation across a fringe amounts of 2.8 cm and mainly accounts for vertical component of the total displacement. The maximum downward displacement inferred by these space-born measurements is around 25 cm. The interferomgrams have been obtained by processing through SPINUA © algorithm two couples of ENVISAR ASR images made available by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Descending SAR images acquired on February 1st, 2009 and April 12th, 2009.
Ascending SAR images acquired on March 11th, 2009 and April 15th, 2009.
